Do you like to sing?
“Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Ephesians 5: 19
I LOVE to sing! I don’t sing very well - I have one of those really soft voices - but when I’m by myself, you’d think I was Sandi Patty! And I really almost sound like her when I’ve got the CD blaring in the stereo, and I’m able to sing as loud as my voice - and my dog - will let me.
My family teases me about my internal radio - I ALWAYS have some song playing in my brain - all sorts of music, too. I especially like the choruses, and usually wake with one of those.
Praise ye the Lord, Hallelujah, praise ye the Lord.
Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, Sweetest name I know, fills my every longing, keeps me singing as I go.
Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, there’s just something about that Name. Kings and Kingdoms will all pass away, there’s just something about that Name.
I love you Lord, and I lift my voice, to worship You, O my soul, rejoice. Take joy my King, in what you hear. May it be a sweet, sweet sound in Your ear.
There are dozens more, these are just a few that are “regulars” on Tracy radio.
You’re going to see just how crazy my music tastes are. A few of my favorite CDs are by: Sandi Patty, Andy Griffith, Dixie Echoes, Carmen, many of the WoW CDs, lots of classical music like Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, country music like Josh Turner, and all sorts of Christmas music that starts playing sometime around the first of November. And I own several hymnals from different denominations, and sing many of the songs from them, too.
When the things of this crazy world bother me too much, and I begin to worry or stress, or if I feel under attack, I turn on the praise and worship music and sing my heart out. The Lord’s peace then surrounds me, energizing and refreshing me.
What kind of praise and worship music do you like best? Does music soothe or energize you?
Let’s all sing praise songs together today!
