Abounding with Thanksgiving

Published by tracycharles at 4:57 am under God's Promises, God's Provision Edit This

As you have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving.

Colossians 2: 6-7

I love this verse. Abounding in thanksgiving. Or as another translation says, “overflowing with thankfulness.”

It might be hard today, with the economy crumbling and an uncertain future, to be overflowing with thankfulness, but we can be. That’s one of the things that sets us, as Christians, apart from the rest of the world. We know God is in control, and He has our future in the palm of His hand. As God said in Jeremiah,

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

Jeremiah 29:11

So today, seek Him with all your heart, and you will abound in thanksgiving. It’s His promise.

Dear Lord, we seek you with our whole hearts. We praise you and we worship you and we want you active in our lives. Life is so difficult right now, but we put our trust in You, Lord, and claim the promise you made in Jeremiah as one of our own. We ask for Your Will to be done in our lives. Thank you for hearing and for answering our prayers. In Jesus’ precious name, Amen.

Oddly enough, it is through three most difficult tragedies over the last year that I find myself praising God even more often for the goodnesses we are blessed with.
