He Knows Your Needs
Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink;; or about your body, or what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, “What shall we eat? or “What shall we drink?” or “What shall we wear?” For the pagans run after these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
Matthew 6:25-34
I was going to share only a verse or two of this passage, but the whole thing spoke to me this morning, so I decided to share it all. These are Jesus’ words - speaking directly to us.
What comfort these words bring.
But it’s easy to read about it, quite yet another to actually put it into practice. Do you find it hard to trust that your needs will be met?
Lord, we ask for your strength to do this. Give us the faith and the courage to trust these words. Help us to know deep within our hearts, deep within our spirits, that You will provide for us - as a gift. Help us not to worry, Lord. Help us put our trust in You, and help us to share with others that trust and faith. Thank you for loving us, and caring for us. Thank you for providing for our needs. Use us for Your purpose, Lord. We praise you. We worship you. We love you. In Jesus’ precious name, Amen.

I have lost my job and while it will be a few months before the severance runs out, I know that I have to have the faith to depend on God.
Julie, I hope your husband finds what he is looking for soon. A year is a long time. It is good to hear your needs are being met, that is what God promises us. We want to continue helping our church with it’s financial problems.
Blogs like this can help as we all share our trials and faith.
Worry is probably what I struggle with the most. To say you trust when things are good is a whole lot easier than when things are falling apart. monk5@charter.net
Sometimes I do worry about having our monetary needs met, especially in these tough economic times. But then I remind myself that I am wearing clothes, there is food in my cupboard. I have to have faith in God that he will provide what we NEED and separate my needs from wants.
this passage became my husband’s favorite, especially during a 1 year period of being unemployed. he’s not much of a verse-memorizer, but this is the first one he’s tackled.
My aunt is going through a really hard time right now. Just the other day I came across this passage and sent it to her. I think sometimes it is easy to believe in God, but hard to trust that He will help and provide for us.
